FAQ

Questions with short answers

If the answer you need is not here, write to us — the address is on the support page.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. The app is free to install and there is nothing inside it to buy — it has no billing code at all. It shows one Google AdMob banner, and that is the whole of the monetisation.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no sign-in and no profile, because there is no server that stores anything about you. The catalogue is downloaded from a content server the same way a browser downloads a picture.

Where are my favourites, collections and my own icons kept?

In a database on your phone, and nowhere else. They survive app updates. They do not survive uninstalling the app, so export the library first if you are about to remove it.

Can I use the same library on two phones?

Not automatically — there is no synchronisation. Export library in Settings writes your icons and collections to a JSON file; Import library on the other phone merges that file in. Import adds, it never deletes.

What happens to the icons I vote on?

The vote is saved on your phone and sent nowhere. Nobody else sees it, and there is no total for an icon across users. Its only job is to weigh which icon the app offers you as the icon of the day.

Can I see what other people like?

No, and there is nothing to see: the app has no server that collects it. There is no chart, no download counter and no leaderboard. What looks like ranking — the icon of the day, the order things are pre-loaded in — is worked out on your own phone from your own history.

Can I add an icon that is not in the catalogue?

Yes, in two ways: paste a URL to a WEBP or GIF, or pick such a file from the phone. Give it a name in latin letters, digits and hyphens, choose a category, and it joins the same grid as the built-in ones.

What if the link I added stops working?

The icon stops loading. The app saves the record and the address, not a copy of the file, so an icon added from the web lives exactly as long as the address behind it does.

Does it work without a connection?

Partly, and predictably. Icons you have already seen are cached on disk and keep working. A first launch with no connection shows the catalogue that travels inside the app. What needs the network is fetching the current catalogue and loading an image for the first time.

Can the person I send an icon to see it without installing iConify?

Yes. Sharing attaches the animation as a file, so it plays in the chat like any other GIF, and adds a link to that icon's page on the web. Neither of those requires the app.

What does the advertising know about me?

Whatever Google AdMob collects to show and measure an ad — typically the device advertising identifier, an approximate location derived from the IP address, and details of the device and of your interaction with the ad. Google processes this as an independent controller under its own policy. Android lets you reset that identifier and switch off personalised advertising in system settings. The details are in our privacy policy.

What is the WhatsApp sticker pack?

Blip Reactions — the sixteen icons of the app's own character, the same ones the catalogue has, installable into WhatsApp from Settings. The pack is downloaded when you ask for it, about six megabytes, so it does not sit in the app taking up space for everyone.

Which Android versions does it run on?

Android 8.0 and newer.

What languages does it speak?

English, Russian and Latvian, following the phone's language — the same three as this site and as the app's page in Google Play.

Something is broken. Where do I write?

To the address on the support page. Tell us the phone, the Android version and the app version from Settings, and what you did before it went wrong — that is usually enough to reproduce it.

Still not answered?
